Additional Ways to Help

  • For your birthday, create a Facebook fundraiser. More and more Facebook users are using their birthdays as an opportunity to fundraise for their favorite organizations. You can help for a good cause and receive a “gift” from far off family and friends at the same time!

    NEXT STEPS

To begin, create a post in your Feed by sharing your own story or copy/paste the verbiage text below to use.

Next, use the Raise Money option from the “add to your post” tools. This is found next to the tools used to add photos/videos, tag people, etc. You may need to select the More option to find the Raise Money tool. It can be identified with 3 linear dots.

    Verbiage:

“For my birthday this year, I'm asking for donations to CHES Foundation.

Their mission “to provide assistance (like education, scholarships, and financial hardships) for those affected by rare chronic disorders” is near and dear to my heart.

Facebook pays all the processing fees for you, so 100% of your donation goes directly to CHES Foundation.”

  • Make a gift and receive income for life

With a charitable gift annuity, you can provide income for yourself and your family and support CHES Foundation’s efforts to support people with chronic illnesses.

This type of donation can provide you with regular payments and serve as a practical way to make a lasting impact. You can also qualify for a variety of tax benefits, including a federal income tax charitable deduction when you itemize.

  • Create a legacy of support for people with chronic conditions. Ensure CHES Foundation’s work for future generations remains intact.

An endowment gift to CHES Foundation today provides funding for our important work to help people with chronic conditions across the US.

When you make a donation to our endowment, you give a gift with both immediate and long-term benefits.

Gifts to the endowment provide a stable financial base for CHES Foundation, ensuring that the organization will have the time and flexibility to make the very best decisions for the long term.

  • (1) Flexible Giving

Designate your assets to improve the lives of people in the chronic illness community.

Not everyone wants to commit to making a gift in their will or estate. Some prefer the increased flexibility that a beneficiary designation provides by using:

    · IRAs and retirement plans

    · Life insurance policies

    · Commercial annuities

It only takes three, simple steps to make this type of gift. Here's how to name CHES Foundation as a beneficiary:

    · Contact your retirement plan administrator, insurance company, bank, or financial institution for a change-of-beneficiary form

    · Decide what percentage (1 to 100) you would like us to receive and name us, along with the percentage you chose, on the beneficiary form

    · Return the completed form to your plan administrator, insurance company, bank, or financial institution

    Next steps

Contact Heather Case at hcase@ches.education for additional information on giving a gift to CHES Foundation.

NOTE: Some life insurance policies will donate 10% of your death benefit above the amount you take out – at no cost to you! This essentially costs you, or CHES Foundation, nothing…

    (2) Helping CHES Foundation and save on tax

See your generosity in action. Make a difference today and save on taxes. It’s possible when you support CHES Foundation Committee through your IRA.

A Special Opportunity for those 70½ Years Old and Older

You can give any amount (up to a maximum of $100,000) per year from your IRA directly to a qualified charity such as CHES Foundation without having to pay income taxes on the money. Gifts of any value $100,000 or less are eligible for this benefit and you can feel good knowing that you are making a difference to the people in our community. This popular gift option is commonly called the IRA charitable rollover, but you may also see it referred to as a qualified charitable distribution, or QCD for short.

    Why Consider This Gift?

    · Your gift will be put to use today, allowing you to see the difference your donation is making

    · Beginning in the year you turn 72, you can use your gift to satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution (RMD)

    · You pay no income taxes on the gift. The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your deductions

    · Since the gift doesn’t count as income, it can reduce your annual income level. This may help lower your Medicare premiums and decrease the amount of Social Security that is subject to tax

  • Create a lasting tribute

Honor someone special with a future gift in their name that can help people with a chronic illness.

If you have a loved one who has been impacted by After the Shock, Ladybugs or One Drop – or any other CHES Foundation initiative or campaign - establishing a memorial or tribute gift is a meaningful way to honor your loved one or celebrate a special occasion while supporting our ongoing work to further the community. Your gift will be a lasting tribute to your loved one and make a difference for the people and communities we serve.

    Fund your donation with:

    • Cash

    • Appreciated securities

    • Real estate

    • Tangible personal property

  • (1) Charitable Remainder Trusts

Strengthen CHES Foundation’s future - and yours!

If you have built a sizeable estate and also are looking for ways to receive reliable payments, consider a charitable remainder trust.

These types of gifts may offer you tax benefits and the option for income. There are two ways to receive payments, and each has its own benefits:

    · The annuity trust pays you, each year, the same dollar amount you choose at the start. Your payments stay the same, regardless of fluctuations in trust investments.

    · The uni-trust pays you, each year, a variable amount based on a fixed percentage of the fair market value of the trust assets. The amount of your payments is redetermined annually. If the value of the trust increases, so do your payments. If the value decreases, however, so will your payments.

    (2) Donor-Advised Funds

Another great way to support CHES Foundation!

A donor-advised fund, which is like a charitable savings account, gives you the flexibility to recommend how much and how often money is granted to CHEHS Foundation and other qualified charities. You can recommend a grant or recurring grants now to make an immediate impact or use your fund as a tool for future charitable gifts.

    Take Action!

    1. Visit Your Fund

    2. Recommend a grant

    3. Impact CHES Foundation

You can also create a lasting legacy by naming CHES Foundation the beneficiary of the entire account or a percentage of the fund. With a percentage, you can create a family legacy of giving by naming your loved ones as your successor to continue recommending grants to charitable organizations.

Next step: Contact your fund administrator for a beneficiary form.

    (3) WILLS

Express your values through the most important document you will ever create.

A will is the most important document you can create. Though often seen as simply a legal document, it is so much more.

Your will is your legacy. It dictates how you will be remembered and can be created to reflect your values. That’s why, no matter your age or wealth status, you should be sure to take time to consider this important document this year.

    Use your will to:

    · Name a guardian for minor children and dependent adults.

    · Dictate how you want your assets to be distributed.

    · Ensure your pets are taken care of.

    · Reduce the administrative expenses of your estate.

    · Make sure your support for the organizations you love, like CHES Foundation, continues.

There’s an easy way for you to continue supporting our work without giving anything today: by including a gift to CHES Foundation in your will.

Advantages of a gift in your will:

Simplicity. As little as one sentence in your will or living trust is all that is needed to complete your gift.

Flexibility. Until your will or trust goes into effect, you are free to alter your plans as needed to reflect life’s changes.

Versatility. You can give a specific item, an amount of money, a gift contingent upon certain events, or a percentage of your estate.

    How does it work?

Your estate planning attorney can help you structure a gift so your loved ones will be taken care of first after you’re gone. They will include special language in the will or living trust you create, or add it to existing documents through an amendment called a codicil.

A gift in your estate plan is right for you if:

    · You want to make sure your support of CHES Foundation continues after your lifetime.

    · You want to balance your generosity to us with an assurance that loved ones are taken care of first.

    · You want to maintain the flexibility to change your mind about your gift at any time.

    Already have a will?

Great! Make sure it is up to date. It’s a good idea to review your will regularly or when you experience a life event such as a marriage, birth, or move. This makes sure your will accomplishes what you want and takes your current state’s law into consideration.
