Bleeding Disorder News # 110: 2026 CHES Events are coming! GFM Fraud and Gene Therapy Update

Friday's BD News #110: Community News to Use! 🩸
Hi,
Van Morrison has a wonderful album called "Hard Nose the Highway." Van Morrison and CHES are connected. Trust me. On the album, there is a track called "Autumn Song". The lyrics include "And in a week or two will be Halloween." For this reason, we only listen to the album in the month of October. At first blush, this seems stringent and silly. But then, I started thinking about how much I love listening to the album while the leaves are falling, wearing a cozy sweater, and sitting by my woodstove. And then I realized. It's not just an album, it's an experience. My friends, here is where Van Morrison connects to CHES. CHES is not just offering educational events. We are offering unique experiences. To connect, to share, to learn, to be seen, heard, and supported. So the next time you hear a Van Morrison song, or you are sitting watching the leaves fall, think of CHES and let the memories of experiences with us sink in.
In addition to being sappy about Van Morrison, I wanted to get sappy about some truly stellar volunteers. At InhibitCon West, we had not one, not two, but THREE rockstar young adults who helped the CHES team in a multitude of ways.  Anoushka Dev, Audriyana Jaber, and Lavang Vu all attended the event and pitched in with everything from welcoming community to the event to chaperoning our childcare field trip to the zoo and our urban Scavenger Hunt with teens (hosted in partnership with the incomparable GutMonkey.) Each of these young adults is a gem and I wanted to publicly acknowledge their dedication and overall talents. If the stars align, you will continue to see them helping at CHES events experiences for years to come!

Lastly, OneDrop is rapidly approaching! Acceptances have been sent out! I hope to see many of you there!
Be kind to each other,
Heather

Nonprofit News
CHES became aware this week that GoFundMe has created 1.4 MILLION fundraising pages for US based nonprofit organizations without their consent or knowledge. CHES was able to remove our page after considerable effort. I am sharing in case your chapter or another beloved nonprofit you know is impacted. Nonprofits everywhere welcome any donations made directly to them- please avoid using any third party fundraising apps and especially avoid GoFundMe! Any questions, reach out- hcase@ches.education.
